The Path Forward Return to Work program at Intel is a 16-week paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. This program is 100% virtual during the 16-week returnship program.  Upon successful completion of the program, there is a possibility of an offer for full-time employment. A full-time offer will likely be based out of Folsom, CA.


What You'll Be Doing: 


  • MPE DEG PCH/SOC team is looking for a Product Development Engineer (PDE) who is passionate about working cross-functionally on leading-edge products, debugging and solving technical issues and delivering the best products in the market to the customer.  You would be responsible for ensuring the testability and manufacturability of integrated circuits from the component feasibility stage through production ramp.  This could include evaluation, development and debug of test methods.  Creating and testing validation and production test hardware solutions.  Analyzing and evaluating component specification versus performance to ensure optimal yield while delivering to test time and quality goals.   Analyzing early customer returns with emphasis on driving test hole closure activities.  Creating innovative solutions to optimize quality and cost constraints. 

  • PDE will need to collaborate worldwide with cross-functional teams including design, validation, software, high volume manufacturing (HVM) and fabs, to develop, deliver and validate functional, analog and structural test content for Client Chipset/SOC products.  During post Si engagement close collaborations with system, Silicon Bench Validation and Test teams to identify and close production issues is also required. 

  • In this role, PDE may be part of a team that supports system and/or electrical validation.  It requires both pre and post Si engagement to ensure design and test content robustness, ultimately delivering highest quality products to customers.  


Minimum Qualifications: 


Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with 4+ years’ experience -OR- a Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field and 3+ years of experience in the following:   

  • Development and debug of test patterns in at least one area of Cache, IO, Functional and Scan to support component debug, validation, characterization, and production test 

  • ATE test program and debug experience 

  • Manufacturing flow knowledge 

  • Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) or system level debug of chipsets and/or CPUs 

  • Post-Si testing and validation on package interfaces 

  • Semiconductor device physics and overall semiconductor testing 


Preferred Skills : 

  • DFT, hardware testing methods and tools 

  • Silicon debug and characterization of new Ips such as PCIe Gen4/5, or SATA including working with platform and system level validation teams to identify and close silicon issues 

  • Debug and validation experience of mixed (analog/digital) circuitry 

  • Pre-Si validation of test content at IP and full chip level, including test writing and simulating 

  • Analysis and disposition of early customer returns to drive understanding of design marginalities or develop test content to screen these units where needed 

  • Experience in cost reduction, or quality improvement efforts, on Class or Wafer Sort tests 

  • Familiar with statistical analysis  

  • Bench design validation using oscilloscope and BERTs 

  • Basic Python, Perl of C scripting 

  • Lean/Agile, Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement tool knowledge
