Platform Debug Specialist: Returnship

Job Description

The Path Forward Return to Work program at Intel is a 16-week paid returnship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. 100% remote after program as well. This program is 100% virtual during the 16-week returnship program.  Upon successful completion of the program, there is a possibility of an offer for full-time employment. A full-time offer will likely 100% remote.

What You'll Be Doing:

 

The Platform Debug Specialist role has a single purpose which is to solve our most challenging product issues.  Platform debug specialists work with our internal product teams (Manufacturing/Validation/Software) and our customer teams during critical escalations to root-cause system-level failures and/or anomalies directly impacting our customers or jeopardizing our committed timelines.  They are responsible for performing low-level and complex debug across multiple IP and system domains within a product, pulling together mindshare across IP design, SOC design, FW, Bios and software teams to completely understand any issue and drive a resolution.  They are also expected to drive innovative debug capability improvements through new DFD, debug tools and scripts to continuously improve the debug discipline.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

Educational experience listed below would be obtained through relevant schoolwork, internships, jobs and/or research experience. 

 

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related discipline and 4+ years of relevant work experience; OR Master's degree in  Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related discipline and 3+ years of relevant work experience; OR PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or related discipline and 1+ years of relevant work experience in the following: 

  • Problem-solving, HW/SW/FW debug and logic proficiency 

  • A developed understanding of x86 Computer Architecture and CPU micro-architecture 

  • Experience in SOC design, verification or validation disciplines 

  • Extensive experience with system/platform-level debug and root cause isolation, methodologies and tools (including Logic Analyzers, Protocol Analyzers, Oscilloscopes and Multimeters.) 

  • Experience with hardware, system and/or microprocessor validation 

  • Experience with Python or C language programming 

  • Intel architecture and/or Intel chipset Experience 

  • Understanding of BIOS, OS, and Driver-level interactions at the system level 

  • Experience debugging Windows or Linux-based operating systems and technologies 

  • Experience reading board schematics and layout 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Test automation frameworks 

  • Demonstrated networking, communication and influence skills 

  • Demonstrated collaboration and teaming skills

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$52,000.00-$200,000.00
