Metrology and Defect Inspection TD Process Engineer-NAND - SK

Job Description

This position is associated with the sale of Intel’s NAND memory and storage business to SK Hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business’ storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

As the global leader in the semiconductor industry Intel possesses industry leading SSD technology and the most capable NAND Flash products As a Sr Product Engineer you will be part of a world class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK Hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 2 of the transaction, which includes NAND technology and component development along with fab operations. Employees aligned to Phase 2 will continue to be employed by Intel and will continue to develop NAND technology and components and manufacture NAND wafers at the fab. Phase 2 of the transaction is expected to close in March 2025, at which time employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition employment to SK Hynix. 

Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is hiring Senior TD Process Engineer - Metrology and Defect Inspection to support/sustain metrology requirements and automate measurements for various process areas to develop world class semiconductor manufacturing processes. A successful candidate will have a compelling track record of developing metro solutions to deliver leading edge process capability, yield, cost, and manufacturability. This will involve close collaboration with cross-functional, cross-company, cross -geo teams and tool suppliers to meet device requirements for next-generation memory products.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with process modules to provide metrology support during process development and instituting metrology BKMs for effective process transfer to high volume manufacturing
  • Conducting statistical analysis of inline and end-of-line DOE data, identifying opportunities to improve and develop action plans.
  • Automate measurements/data extraction and organize them in formats usable by end users.
  • Conducting equipment development projects with equipment suppliers.
  • Designing, executing, and analyzing experiments to meet the process development needs at advanced technology nodes
  • Developing solutions to problems utilizing formal education, statistical knowledge, and problem-solving tools.
  • Domestic and International travel, as necessary to support job responsibilities
  • Identify potential intellectual properties (IP) opportunities and file disclosures


Minimum Requirements

  • MS in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics, or an equivalent field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Semiconductor FAB processing and/or equipment development.
  • Experience with various statistical analysis techniques utilizing tools such as JMP, R, Python Matlab etc.

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

  • Prior experience working with external and internal partners, including semiconductor equipment and/or materials manufacturers.
  • Strong understanding of Metrology fundamentals, material, and structural characterization techniques
  • Must have technical expertise within semiconductor processing engineering preferably in Memory process development for leading edge technology.
  • Technical problem-solving skills, with multitasking.
  • Willing to travel and enjoys working across geographies.
  • Must be flexible in accommodating changing priorities and working hours to support business needs.
