RAN Software Engineer
Job DescriptionRole:
Responsible for leading LTE/5G RAN support team. Good understanding of emerging RAN technology and evolving specifications, understand customer requirements, ensure product quality as per internal and customer's quality requirements. Primarily responsible for the following:
1. Drives technical discussions with the customer
2. Analysis and debug technical issues
3. Should be able to work on wireless solutions based on Intel platform (CPU's and FPGA) for providing bug fixes, conducting demo, Technical training on Intel platforms to customer
4. Develops detailed feature level requirements based on customer's inputs
5. Helps make technical trade-offs by being a decision maker in case of a technical conflict or challenges or multiple options that are available to customer.
6. Establishing a technical trusted advisor relationship with key customers
7. Participating in cross functional customer teams with the goal of maximizing MSS with key customers
8. Collaborating with Communication service provider, OSV and ISV's to develop and debug VNF SW applications running on IA platforms.
9. Responsible for the generation and maintenance of product enabling collateral including development of sampled RAN designs, bug fix patches and demos
Skills Required:
Mandatory:
1. In-depth understanding of communications platforms with respect to software/hardware RAN architecture and networking protocols
2. Deep appreciation of RAN Architecture and Design aspects
3. Good expertise in Open RAN / Cloud RAN / O-RAN solutions, NFV
4. Good understanding of 5G / 4G 3GPP spec
5. Hands-on experience in RAN (LTE/5G) L1 protocol layer and integration with L2 layer
6. Fundamental understanding of Intel Platform Technologies such as FlexRAN, Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK), Quick Assist Technology (QAT) as well as SDN and NFV technologies
7. Experience with software optimization tools and techniques such as VTune, Perf, EMON etc
8. Experience with BIOS setting, low level programming and run time control tools ie: ITP or JTAG and packet generation test equipment such as IXIA, T-Rex, Spirent
9. Trouble shooting Functional and performance issues
10. Strong programming in C/C++ language.
11. Development and testing in Unix/Linux environment
12. Knowledge of development and debugging tools required
13. Exposure to configuration management tools such as Clearcase/ Git
Desirable
1. Basic understanding of FPGA
2. Hands-on experience in RAN (LTE/5G) L2/L3 protocol layers
3. Experience in MAC-PHY integration
Travel Needs to customer location:
Multiple times / close working with customer by being at customer location

Graduate/Post-graduate in Electrical/Electronics/Computer Science Engineering
Experience
1. Overall 6-8 years in design and development
2. Exposure to contemporary software engineering methods and processes
