Hardware Electrical Engineer -SK (Co-op)

Job Description

This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK Hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2020/10/nand-memory-news-q-a.pdf). The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

This is an exciting time to be at Intel - come join our Hardware Electrical Team as a Hardware Electrical Engineer (co-op) and work on one of the most advanced 3DNAND and SSD technology portfolios in the world. As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. As a Hardware Electrical Engineer (co-op), you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK Hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK Hynix.

A co-op term with Intel of Canada's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is a challenging and rewarding experience, allowing you to gain knowledge and experience in design and test of IC and module products for the next generation of Solid State Drives (SSDs). As a member of our hardware team, you will work alongside experienced engineers to solve new and interesting problems, making an important contribution to our exciting high-performance SSD projects.

Hardware Engineer Co-op

Achieve hands-on experience with Solid State Drives (SSD) electronics. You will work with the most advanced lab test equipment to electrically validate our SSD products that feature leading edge analog and digital circuitry. Other areas of opportunity including collaborating with the rest of the hardware team on development phases including prototyping developing, simulating and validating our SSD products.

Employees are encouraged to work remotely due to Covid-19, all new hire orientations will be done virtually. This is subject to change and employees deemed as essential workers may be required to work on-site.

We are looking for enthusiastic students with communication and interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities, a desire to learn and a good general knowledge of embedded systems, analog and digital circuits, software/firmware development and testing methodology.

Job assignments will be based on available projects during the work term and on the skills and interests of the student. We encourage undergraduate candidates to apply.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

  • Knowledge of lab test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, power supplies, soldering equipment)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant coursework/experience in hardware circuits programming/scripting languages (e.g. C/C++, Python)

$52,000.00-$147,000.00 (Hourly Role)
