Tech Writer/Content Experience Strategist

Job Description

In this position, you will be responsible for defining and implementing documentation strategy for Intel software products and latest SW technologies.


As a technical writer, you will be responsible for designing, writing, revising and/or editing of technical documentation, developing documentation guidelines and creating standards, templates, and style guides to drive consistency and efficiency across the products. You will be an integral part of a software product development and release team, and will work closely with software engineers and other project stakeholders, both in the domains of proprietary and open-source products, to develop software product content strategy for offline and online (web) use. You will work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify gaps in existing content and develop and implement a plan to address the gaps. You will attend planning and/or coordination meetings to assess customer requirements and define appropriate content solutions.


As a content strategist, you will influence the strategic and tactical direction of the software product teams you will be supporting by defining the overall content strategy for their products in collaboration with the Developer Experience teams and developers. You will need to understand personas, customer journeys, product vision and requirements and ensure the product meets the UX and stakeholders' needs. You will be responsible for applying Human Factors Engineering techniques and principles at all phases of product/technology development.


Qualities: Highly self motivated, able to prioritize and focus on critical tasks (cut interesting chaff). Independent, but take direction & input very well. Excellent verbal and written communications abilities augmented with strong presentation skills. Consensus builders that can flexibly articulate the value of user-centered design in a fast-moving, highly competitive environment.


This position requires an ability to work with remote teams in different time zones (Ex: Pacific, Central, Eastern time in United States) and with SMEs and peers who speak English as their first language.


Qualifications

We are looking for a technical writer and content strategist with strong English writing skills and equally strong technical skills and aptitude, programming skills being a plus.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in English or a related field with some course work in Computer science and related fields. Or

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or SW programming with excellent English writing skills.

Qualifications:

  • 6-7 years designing, writing, and publishing technical documentation for software products.

  • 3-4 years of experience driving content strategy development

  • 3-4 years of experience in XML-based authoring using DITA OT, XMetaL Editor, and Content Management Systems is a great plus.

  • 3-4 years of experience with web-based publishing is a plus.

  • 2-3 years of programming experience is highly desirable, which could include one of or more of the following: C++, Python, C#, Perl, Java, Fortran, JavaScript, or other current scripting languages.

  • Experience defining, tracking, and reporting on content metrics.

  • Knowledgeable in data-driven analysis.

  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

  • Good working knowledge of Windows and Linux systems.
