SSD Technical Internship in Customer Engagement and Marketing Organization - SK

Job Description

This position is associated with the sale of Intel’s NAND memory and storage business to SK hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business’ storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK hynix.

The SSD Technical Internship role offers firsthand experience on cutting edge storage technology solutions The internship is an opportunity to learn about the fast-growing solid-state drive market and how it is changing data center and enterprise computing environments. Successful candidate will work primarily with the Applications Engineering AE team to support customer technical activities for example: product sampling platform, level testing of SSD assist with reproduction of customer reported failures and support the AE team. In addition the candidate will contribute on customer presentations track program indicators and marketing collaterals.

Assignments will be technical in nature and will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the projects and experience educational background of the individual For example:

  • Automating scripts to update firmware on an SSD Benchmark Intel SSDs using benchmarking tools software applications.
  • Work with AE and customer to resolve issues across a breadth of engineering disciplines.
  • Optimize internal customer issue tracking tools. Print labels that meet customer specifications for SSDs.
  • Perform specification gap analysis on Intel SSD vs customer requirements.
  • Prepare SSDs for customer sampling.

This internship has a minimum duration of 7 months from June 2021 - December 2021. Success in this role requires a team player attitude willingness to take initiative tolerance for multitasking and motivation to go above and beyond baseline expectations to deliver results to teammates amp stakeholders All candidates must meet the minimum requirements to be considered for this internship Preferred requirements are additional factors that distinguish top candidates.

This position is not eligible for employment-based visa/immigration sponsorship.  Intel sponsors individuals for employment-based visas for positions where we experience a shortage of US Workers. These skills shortage roles are typically STEM contributing positions requiring a Master's or PhD degree, or a Bachelor’s degree with three years’ related job experience.  This position does not qualify for Intel Sponsorship because it is either (1) a non-STEM contributing position, or (2) a STEM position that only requires a Bachelor’s degree and less than three years’ experience.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work, classes, research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The candidate must be pursuing a BS degree in Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Science or related field
  • 6 months of experience in the following areas:
    • Building a PC from assembly to installation of operating system OS.
    • PC architecture and the relationship between CPUDRAM storage.
    • Debugging with some examples such as setting up a test environment to determine if compatibility issue is software or hardware related.
    • Programming language CC Python.

  Preferred Requirements:

  • 6 months of experience in the following areas:
  • SSD benchmarking process and experience with FIO IOmeter Vdbench CrystalDiskMark Sysmark or PCMarkVantage.

The candidate needs to intern for at least 7 months. Non-Volatile Solutions Memory Group:  The Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is a worldwide organization that delivers NAND flash memory products for use in Solid State Drives (SSDs), portable memory storage devices, digital camera memory cards, and other devices.  The group is responsible for NVM technology design and development, complete Solid State Drive (SSD) system hardware and firmware development, as well as wafer and SSD manufacturing.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$52,000.00-$147,000.00 (Hourly Role)
