While Shannon is the primary location for this position, we offer flexibility to work from other Intel sites in Leixlip and Cork or remotely within Ireland.
Responsibilities:
Researching and analyzing new technologies from Cloud Orchestration, Service Mesh, Networking, Language Run Times to Benchmarking and Optimization
Optimize and enhance existing open-source software, e.g. Kubernetes and Envoy in CNCF, and create new ones as needs be.
Engaging with major customers to understand their priorities and use cases
Providing input to technical direction.
Building and implementing prototypes.
Production software to deliver best-in-class Cloud Native Infrastructure and solutions for Intel Architecture (IA) processors.
Problem-solving, prototyping, designing, and implementing solutions.
Agile development methodologies.
Qualifications
Required
Honours degree, Masters or PhD in a software/engineering/science-related discipline with a proven programming track record in industry
Minimum of 5-7 years software development experience ideally in Cloud Native SW Engineer
Experience investigating new technologies and sharing technical information with customers and stakeholders
Excellent knowledge of Golang, or Python or C, C++, JAVA with strong development experience
Desired
Experience building distributed applications
Experience building Cloud Native / Micro-services based applications in Azure, AWS, GCP
Experience with cloud orchestration related technologies e.g. Kubernetes, Docker etc.
Linux development experience e.g. Device Drivers, Kernel, and Application development
Experience working with, influencing, and contributing to open source communities and open source projects
Experience in networking and related protocols, e.g. Ethernet, TCP/IP, Switching and Routing
Experience with Web Assembly / Run Time workloads
Knowledge of Linux Kernel Networking and/or User Space Networking, e.g. DPD
Knowledge of virtualization technologies e.g. application development on KVM, QEMU, VMWARE
