Software Architect (-SK)

Job Description

This position is associated with the sale of Intel's NAND memory and storage business to SK hynix (You can read more about the transaction in the press release - https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2020/10/nand-memory-news-q-a.pdf). The transaction will enhance the resources and potential of the business' storage solutions, including client and enterprise SSDs, in the rapidly growing NAND Flash space amid the era of big data.

As the global leader in the semiconductor industry, Intel possesses many industry-leading SSD technologies including the most capable Quadruple Level Cell (QLC) NAND Flash products. As a Software Architect, you will be part of a world-class team that will transition to lead the SSD business at SK hynix.

This position aligns to Phase 1 of the transaction, which includes the 3DNAND enterprise and client SSD business. Phase 1 is expected to close in late 2021, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions. At deal close, all employees aligned to this phase of the transaction will transition to SK hynix.

In this position, you join a fast-paced team enabling host software stacks for Intel Solid State Drives (SSD) products. You will provide technical leadership in building host software solutions and overseeing their integration with Intel SSD firmware and validation environments. The primary focus is on enabling our future generations of SSD products for our key customers. You will work in an agile development environment across organizational boundaries and with global teams, helping advance the capabilities of our people while contributing to our product and SW roadmaps.

As a Software Architect, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical leadership to an engineering team for planning, sizing and organizing work aligned with product schedules
  • Collaborating with project stakeholders to assess impacts and translate technical requirements into robust designs, development and validation plans
  • Mentoring junior engineers in the technical leadership pipeline
  • Creating architecture specifications
  • Assessing technical risks and proposing solutions to address critical issues
  • Driving technical roadmap definition and improvements for host software aligned with industry trends
  • Contributing to organization process and tools improvement initiatives
  • Fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed below would be obtained through a combination of schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field


Minimum Requirements:

  • 5+ years developing software in an embedded systems environment
  • 3+ years of experience in the storage domain (SSDs or enterprise storage)
  • 2+ years of experience in storage software and firmware interfaces (PCIe and NVMe protocols, Open Channel SSDs, Linux and Windows drivers)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in 'C'-based SW development tools and methods
  • Design and development of user mode storage applications using SPDK
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and product SW lifecycles
  • Ability to build strong SW/FW development and validation partnerships
  • Track record of product and/or process innovation
  • Experience in technical engagements/reviews with customers

Non-Volatile Solutions Memory Group:  The Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group is a worldwide organization that delivers NAND flash memory products for use in Solid State Drives (SSDs), portable memory storage devices, digital camera memory cards, and other devices.  The group is responsible for NVM technology design and development, complete Solid State Drive (SSD) system hardware and firmware development, as well as wafer and SSD manufacturing.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, Colorado:
$130,020.00-$195,420.00
