Principal RF & Photonics Engineer

Job Description

We are looking an exceptional candidate to work in a challenging, fast paced environment developing next generation optical transceivers and solutions so that we contribute to Intel Silicon Photonics Product Division's mission to transform and lead Data Center optical connectivity, and enable Intel's differentiation in the networking space. As the Principal RF & Photonics Engineer in our R&D organization, the individual will be responsible for architecture & design of next-gen high speed Silicon Photonics devices and modules by interacting with broad interdisciplinary teams composed of experts in photonics devices, electrical ICs, and packaging, to deliver high performance Silicon Photonics based transceivers from concept to high-volume production with superior performance and reliability.


Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Electrical or Optical Engineering, or closely related field, plus 15+ years of hands-on industry experience in architecture and design on high speed photonics devices, components and transceiver modules.

  • Demonstrated experiences, through successful product development, in designing high speed Silicon Photonics chips, opto-electronics components, transceiver modules, involving the state-of-the-art silicon photonics technology and digital signal processing electronics.

  • Demonstrated expertise in semiconductor physics, high speed silicon photonics device & architecture design, RF and signal integrity design, transceiver module architecture design. Demonstrated proficiency in RF design and simulation for photonics.

  • Track record of developing high speed Silicon Photonics chips and/or modules suitable for operational environments, performing trade off studies and sensitivity analyses, and comparing alternative architectures with system performance estimates and pragmatic estimation of unknown parameters.
