About this position…

As a Thermal Mechanical Laboratory Technician in Intel's Client Computing Group, you will work closely with thermal and mechanical engineers to perform customer intelligence of new client systems and validate performance of thermal solutions or thermal solution components.


  • Perform a technical teardown of a client computing system (eg., a notebook computer), which consists of the following:
    • Mechanical dimensions of the system and major components
    • Thermal measurements during a high-stress workload
    • Airflow measurements
    • Technical documentation of test processes and results
    • Executing system workloads and collecting data.
  • Support other engineering requests to measure, test, and verify non-traditional mechanical and thermal solutions.  These tests would leverage similar capabilities as system teardowns.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes and project work, internships, and/or work experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidate must have a Technical degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or any related field.

6+ months of experience with/ in:

  • Documenting technical test reports.
  • Maintenance or repair of electronic equipment.
  • Soldering of electronic components.
  • Able to communicate in English, at least at basic level.
  • Must have permanent unrestricted right to work in Costa Rica.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with data acquisition hardware (DAQ)
  • Experience with mechanical / thermal metrology (CMM, air tunnels, thermocouples, infrared cameras).
  • LabView programming knowledge
