About the group:  
Design Enablement (DE) is one of the key pillars enabling Intel to deliver winning products in the marketplace. Your work will directly enable design teams to get to market faster with leadership products on cutting edge technologies. As part of the Design Enablement/Process Design Kit (PDK) group, you will join a highly motivated team of talented engineers solving challenging technical problems enabling PDKs for Intel's most advanced process technologies and drive PDKs towards industry standard methods and ease of use for the end customers. The job requires partnering and leveraging domain experts across various areas of Technology Development, Electronic Design Automation (EDA) vendors and product design teams to develop and deliver high quality technology modeling, collateral, and EDA tools.

As an R&D Engineer, you’ll be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Based on the needs of existing and future technologies, you will create high-quality software/flows, work with multiple developers and technology groups, and follow software design practices to bring Intel’s cutting edge interconnect technology to the design community.

You will work with Electronic Design Automation companies to co-develop extraction solutions that will leverage existing techniques and, when needed, develop new models and approaches, to address upcoming technologies. In all cases, you will help develop methods to benchmark and validate extraction solutions against more complex solutions and measured data.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship/CO-OP experiences. 
Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Candidate must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Electrical and Computer Engineering with 3+ years of directly related experience
  • 2+ years’ experience in C++.
  • 2+ years’ experience in electromagnetics, parasitic extraction, or device physics.  

Preferred Qualifications:   
3+ years of experience with the following:  

  • Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, TCL, Python)  
  • Various 2D and solvers (e.g. Raphael, HFSS, Fast Henry, Quick Cap, university-developed tools)  
  • Extraction flows using popular extraction solutions (Ansys, Cadence, StarRC, Quantus etc.)  
  • Knowledge of popular 2.5D and 3D electromagnetic packages
