SOC FW Design Engineer

Job Description

Graphics & Throughput Computing Hardware Engineering (GTCHE) is responsible for delivering industry-leading GPU (3D, media, compute, and display) hardware intellectual property (IP) blocks and system-on-a-chip (SoC) products for discrete graphics and throughput computing. We are looking for an SoC FW Design Engineer to join our team.

irmware Design Engineer, where you will use state of the art design tools and flows, and will be responsible for various stages of SoC design. As a member of the Graphics SoC team, your responsibility will include, but not limited to, integrating key differentiating IPs into System on Chip (SoC) designs, driving Firmware design and convergence. Working with key partners such as SW driver, Platform design and Pre/Post-Si verification teams to achieve Firmware quality and feature acceptance. To be successful in this position you will need to be able to learn quickly and work effectively in a highly dynamic environment. We are looking for a strong problem solver with good interpersonal communication and teamwork skills.


What you will be doing:

  • Definition, design, verification, and documentation for SoC (System on a Chip) development.
  • Determine architecture design, logic design, and system simulation.
  • Define module interfaces/formats for simulation.
  • Perform Firmware design and implementation for integration of functional units and subsystems into SoC designs.
  • Assist feature validation at pre-Si and post-Si stages of the product development.
  • Contribute to the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits.
  • Performs all aspects of the Firmware design flow from high-level design to implementation, optimization, to help create a design database that is ready for manufacturing.
  • Analyze equipment to establish operation infrastructure, conducts experimental tests, and evaluates results. May also review vendor capability to support development.

Minimum Skills and Experience that will get you noticed:

You must possess a minimum of Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of industry experience.

Your experience should be in the following: 

  • Embedded firmware development in C/C++/Assembly or other low level languages
  • CPU/GPU Architecture
  • SoC and/or platform level power and thermal management
  • Perl or any other scripting tools

Preferred skills and experiences that will make you stand out:

Masters/PhD with 6+ years of experience in the following:

  • SoC and/or platform level power and thermal management
  • Silicon debug/bring up experience
