Graduate Research Intern - Deep Learning, Radar Perception

Job Description

The Sensing System Lab in Intel Labs is innovating in the next generation sensing, perception and control solutions for autonomous systems that are used in vehicles, industrial robotics as well as consumer devices. In this position, you will research & develop new, state-of-the-art deep learning algorithms and implement them on Radar, wireless sensing, and signal processing systems in simulation environments as well as practical implementations on various computing platforms. Requires knowledge and research experience on Deep Learning and Radar principles.

Opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technologies alongside experts in the fields of deep learning and simulation.

You will be working on:

  • Developing deep learning models that apply to advanced signal processing and perception concepts in automotive radar systems.
  • Develop a scalable toolchain to generate a labeled dataset from simulated and field-collected data for training deep learning-based perception and control algorithms.
  • Modeling the urban driving scenarios from internal and external datasets and develop the appropriate simulation pipeline and sensor models.


Minimal Qualifications:

  • +1 year Ph.D. graduate student study in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • +1 year Strong fundamentals in deep learning, with relevant academic work (or) strong background in computer vision/machine perception.
  • +1 year Experience with 3D/4D perception sensors such as radar, LIDAR and/or depth cameras
  • +1 year Experience on the curation of automotive radar dataset and techniques including radar data interpretation, outlier analysis & removal, radar data labeling, etc.
  • +1 year Strong programming skills in Python/Matlab/C++.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Deep Learning frameworks, API services and libraries such as Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch, OpenCV, -OpenCL is a great plus-, etc.
  • Solid communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding the basics of signal processing principles in Radar system.
