CAD Engineer

Job Description

Intel Corporation invites you to join the team that develops and applies computer aided design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems. Assessing architecture and hardware limitations, plans technical projects in the design and development of CAD software. Defines and selects new approaches and implementation of CAD software engineering applications and design specifications and parameters. Develops routines and utility programs. Prepares design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval. May specify materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of projects and may evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.

As a CAD Engineer in the Advanced Design group in Logic Technology Development (LTD), you will be responsible for the development of tools, methodologies and processes to support Intel's next generation process technology and products.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

- Development of CAD software/flows that automate: physical layout of E-Test Structure devices and connectivity, layout dummification, design verification within a customized physical design framework.

- Definition of process design rules to make designs conform to process requirements.

- Development of runset software to implement process design rules.

- Development and support test chip layout library for the latest process node.

- Collaborating with other manufacturing groups to define test structure designs.

- Troubleshoot design and verification issues with complex physical designs flows and tools.

The successful candidate is both detail and results oriented, relies on sound engineering judgment, and has solid data analysis, critical thinking, and presentation skills to arrive at timely solutions for complex and highly constrained problems. This opportunity is intensely collaborative & requires the continuous interaction with fellow group members and adjacent engineering teams, to absorb an in depth understanding of technology design rules, discover integrated requirements, and negotiate with internal customers to identify optimal solutions in a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will need to continue their education in this fascinating and multi-disciplinary field and expects to continuously encounter and overcome problems with root cause solutions.

This is an entry level position and compensation will be given accordingly.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications needed to be successful:

  • Candidate must possess a PHD degree in Electrical, Physics, Chemical, Material Science, Mechanical, Optics, Nano-Engineering or other related scientific engineering discipline.

Minimum of 6 months of experience in one or more of the following areas (having more than one of the below skills, will be preferred):

  • Software development/programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Perl, Python, SKILL, Ruby, TCL).
  • Solving problems using efficient computer algorithm and effective programming techniques.
  • Working with UNIX/Linux computer platforms.
  • VLSI circuit, CMOS layout design and understanding of layout design rules.
  • Industry standard integrated circuits (IC) design CAD tools/flows. Specific experience with CAD tools like Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys IC Validator or Mentor Calibre.
