Tool Install Mechanical Project Engineer - Global Construction Engineering

Job Description

Global Construction Engineering (GCE) is responsible for the design and engineering of all of Intel's major manufacturing and cleanroom projects in Oregon, Arizona, Israel and Ireland. We are a team of specialized in-house architects and engineers in a highly collaborative environment. We work together with our factory, operations, and supply chain partners to deliver some of the most technically challenging projects in the world with demanding schedule and cost constraints.

This position is with the Tool Install Central Engineering team and will be based in Oregon at our flagship technology development campus in Hillsboro. This position is with our Tool Install Central Engineering team that focuses on the construction designs required to install the semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Our Project Engineers are highly valued and are relied upon to provide technical leadership in their area of expertise.

A Tool Install Mechanical Project Engineer is one of the first to be consulted for any construction or operational issue relating to all mechanical facilities needed by the manufacturing tool (all process waters, chemicals, gases, drains, exhausts and more). The PE's partner with the technology development manufacturing tool owner in the design of all mechanical and process facilities needed by the tool and any troubleshooting required to keep the tools running at all times. As our technologies are transferred from the technology development site to our high volume manufacturing facilities, the Mechanical Project Engineer will also answer technical questions from our factories around the world relating to the mechanical and process facilities. Partnering with project engineers from other disciplines, the Tool Install Central Engineering team are key in ensuring our Copy Exactly policy is maintained in the installation of the manufacturing tools.

 The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Proficiency with reading and interpreting construction contract documents.
  • A data driven approach to problem solving and decision making taking costs into consideration.
  • Familiarity with schematics and BIM.
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communication - especially in communicating technical issues.
  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical engineering and ability to provide direction to technical teams.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines, organizations and geographic boundaries.
  • Highly team and quality oriented.
  • Technical writing experience (e.g. specifications).
  • Value for safety and a safe project environment.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a Bachelor's with 3+ years of experience or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience on the design or construction of mechanical systems.
  • This U.S. position is open to U.S. Workers Only. A U.S. Worker is someone who is either a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident, or a person granted Refugee or Asylum status by the U.S. Government. Intel will not sponsor a foreign national for this position.

 Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience focus on industrial, semiconductor, and cleanroom projects.
  • Direct experience performing cost analysis of engineering options.
  • Experience partnering with trade contracts to enable pre-fabrication or off site manufacturing.
