OTD Manufacturing Engineering Intern

Job Description

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer (MSE) internship job requires a passion for process improvement, data analysis, and leading new systems implementation. Intel's new product roadmap requires new equipment, technologies, and processes in the Die Prep factories that require innovative solutions for manufacturing execution.

The Oregon Technology Development (OTD) MSE team responsibilities include:

  • Conducting comprehensive gap analysis for technologies that are disruptive to Die Prep manufacturing systems
  • Designing systems to enable these technologies
  • Leading groups/teams to implement systems solutions
  • Transferring these solutions to HVM partners.
  • MSEs drive root cause analysis and develop solutions within the areas of WIP management, quality, and business processes.
  • The team owns OTD tactical capacity, key performance indicators, and data visualization.

The MSE Intern will be involved in assessing OTD factory improvement opportunities and driving changes within the factory.

Potential projects include factory capacity modeling, indicator development, and manufacturing readiness activities.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.

Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Knowledge and/or experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.


  • Undergraduate pursuing an Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering bachelor's degree or a technical discipline bachelor's degree with 3 months experience.


Experience with:

  • SQL as well as VBA/Python or related programming language as related to obtaining, summarizing, and providing data.
  • Quantitative skills (statistical analysis, modeling), Operations Research knowledge (Theory of Constraints, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Science), and computer skills (MS Office Suite).
  • Project management skills (i.e., can identify milestones and tasks and lead projects to on-time/on-budget completion when needed)
