Director, VTT Platform Validation

Job Description

Intel desires entry into market segments served by high performance discrete graphics. Participation in market segments served by discrete graphics requires the delivery of reference platforms to downstream customers with sufficient confidence in the design to ramp this design or very close derivative into high volume production quickly. Intel is building this capability and now seeks to create a discrete graphics Platform System Engineering team.

The VTT organization is headquartered in Folsom, CA with significant development teams in Santa Clara, Bangalore India, shanghai China and Gdansk Poland and a newly formed team in Toronto Canada

Key Responsibilities

The Director, Platform Validation shall be responsible for proactive management of all aspects of the validation of discrete graphics board products. You shall lead the development of functional, electrical and end-to-end validation plans for new discrete graphics products based on Intel's discrete graphics chips.  In this role you shall oversee the teams validating high performance graphics cards, product reference designs, and/or mobile graphics systems.  You shall drive the planning and execution through all stages of design from the initial architecture through to production and deployment of new designs.  You shall interact with the product marketing, SOC teams, and all platform teams that are integral to the launch of the products.   In addition you may work with key OEM/ODM partners in support of their designs.   The work will include:

  • Overseeing validation teams and activities
  • Working with partner validation teams within Intel, such as IP Validation and Product Engineering teams to ensure full end-to-end validation is achieved
  • Developing the validation metrics and KPI’s to ensure successful delivery of Intel discrete graphics to market.
  • Drive innovation in the overall validation strategy and methodology to deliver best-in-class validation processes for Intel products.
  • Establish and control project budgets
  • Establish, manage, monitor and optimize project processes and KPIs
  • Work with product marketing teams on product launch plans
  • Work with critical engineering partnering groups across intel such as product engineering, packaging,etc.
  • Establish relationships with ODM/OEM and other potential suppliers.
  • Support deployment with key ODM/OEM and customers


Qualifications

This is a key position within the Intel VTT development organization. The successful candidate shall have demonstrated a successful track record of validating high performance platform products. The market segments served by discrete graphics are fast moving the successful candidate shall demonstrate a high level of comfort with change and change management.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in leading high-performing teams
  • 5+ years’ experience delivering and/or validating high performance board design products.
  • Experience in modern platform level validation flows
  • Experience in fully automated validation test methodologies and principles
  • Provision of second level validation support to ODM/OEM board vendors
  • Regulatory and compliance validation for consumer electronics
  • Global management of geographically diverse team
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy products into partner channel markets
  • Ability and willingness for global travel to meet internal teams and with external customers

Advantages

  • Experienced in the delivery of discrete graphics add-in cards or mobile discrete graphics systems to production.
  • Experience in managing product delivery through Agile processes an advantage.
  • Experience in the bring-up and delivery of products from first chip back through to platform production.
  • Experience in validating discrete graphics products
  • Experience with display technologies  such as Display Port and HDMI
  • Experience in validating platforms based on new SOC technologies
