IP Design and Integration Engineer

Job Description

This position will be responsible for architecting and implementing processes for the design, validation and release to customers of IP Cores either licensed from 3rd party or designed within Intel's Programmable Solutions Group (PSG). This is a cross-functional and highly visible role in which the candidate will collect feed-back from design and application teams on the IP release requirements and devise solutions to address them. The main goal is to define and implement a scalable infrastructure where new IPs can be easily and reliably integrated in customer designs, from RTL to tape out through Physical Implementation. This will require defining design and implementation guidelines for the internal IP design team, and acceptance criteria for 3rd party licensed IP. The objective is to ensure a smooth experience for customers and application engineers, so that integration, verification, and physical implementation of IP within customer designs does not cause issues or delays.

Advanced practical knowledge of design, verification, and synthesis of RTL code for IP within a chip-level RTL is required; proven record to create processes and automation to standardize and streamline the release of IP to customers, including documentation and training, is also a must.

Essential Functions

Design, verification, synthesis of highly configurable and reusable IP cores
Perform physical implementation of the IP, in collaboration with specialized IP engineers.
Critical analysis and definition of acceptance criteria for 3rd party IP
Scripting to automate validation and release of IP cores for our platforms
Write documentation such as integration and configuration guides for IP cores
Support FAEs and AEs in the use and integration of IP cores
Collect requirements from internal Design and Application Team(s) and define a process for an IP release infrastructure.
Provide support for validation, implementation, and technology specific checks assuring complete qualification of the IP before delivery
Define a required set of checks (design, verification, synthesis, physical implementation) which every IP must pass before release
Work with the IP owners and make sure every new IP Core is first integrated and adhere to the required standards
Develop various scripts to detect possible bottlenecks for implementation so the IP can be improved accordingly
Integrate new tools in the IP release qualification flow and create a set of linting rules to improve the code quality

This job operates in a professional technical environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.

Minimal travel is expected for this position.


Minimum 5 years of experience in Design Automation and Physical Design
Experience with chip design flow as well as RTL design, verification, synthesis
BSEE or related degree
Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of experience in Design Automation and Physical Design preferred
MSEE or related degree preferred
