Computer Graphics Software Engineer

Job Description

The Next Generation and Standards (NGS) group in Technology, Systems Architecture & Client Group is looking for a Computer Graphics SW Engineer for AR/VR technology development over 5G. It requires hands on implementation on new emerging area combined with theoretical research work.

Some of the job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Video encoding and decoding technology research for AR/VR.
  • Design and PoC development.
  • Standardization activity monitoring or Open Source based development.
  • Contribute to resolution of technical issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Escalate issues in an appropriate and timely manner.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Identify issues and resolutions to meet project goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Technical leadership.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have a Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with:
    • C/C++ development and implementation.
    • 3D math and linear algebra, with applied experience in geometric modeling, character modeling, inverse kinematics and parametric surfaces.
    • Developing applications, drivers, or rendering engines using one of DirectX, Metal, Vulkan, or OpenGL.
    • Programming experience in Game development (Unity/Unreal), for example, 2D or 3D applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with:

  • Open Source.
  • Video and media coding.
  • Mobile platform software development.
  • Mobile wireless technology (i.e. 3G, LTE, WiGig, WiFi).
  • Multi-thread / multi-core programming.
  • Distributed system.
  • Server/client architecture implementation.
  • Cloud-based streaming solutions.
  • Training deep convolution and/or recurrent neural networks.
