FPGA High Level Design Compiler Optimization Intern

Job Description

Intel's Programmable Solutions Group is seeking motivated individuals to work on their high-level design compiler to improve design performance for users. Responsibilities may be quite diverse in a technical nature and will vary significantly depending on the unique needs of the role, U.S. experience and education requirements. Job assignments may be for the summer or for short periods throughout the school year.

The responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzing user designs
  • Identifying performance bottlenecks
  • Proposing compiler enhancements
  • Implementing compiler code changes and thoroughly testing code changes for both functionality and performance.
  • Some work may involve a mix of software and hardware at the register transfer level

The successful applicant will work as part of a collaborative team to come up with solutions to new optimization problems, including participation in team discussions, driving proposals and delivering presentations.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be working towards a Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum of 9 months experience with:
o C++ programming language.
o Data structures and algorithms.
o HDL Verilog or VHDL.
- Must have unrestricted right to work in Canada without requiring sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with compiler optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with OpenCL.
