Job Description
Responsible for designing, writing, revising and/or editing of technical and/or promotional papers i.e., application papers, product descriptions, catalogs, manuals/guides, commercial applications, brochures, product articles, etc.. Analyzes and interprets data to determine appropriate syntax, style, and grammatical usage. Information may be produced on hard copy or electronic medium. Performs tasks related to the construction of technical and non technical illustrations and graphics. Attends planning/coordination meetings to assess customer requirements. Responsibilities may include: overseeing preparation of illustrative material, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts, supporting slide/video production, serving as editor on specific publications including article selection, artwork coordination, productions and distribution. May assist in preparation and layout of work for publication. Individuals act as internal experts, consultants, and program/project managers and represent the corporation to external groups, agencies, and vendors.


About the role:The Sr. Technical Writer will work as part of an international team of writers documenting Intel security software products for the market. The job is located in our Bangalore, India office, but you will collaborate regularly with other technical writers in the US and Europe, as well as with translators, programmers, project managers, and other specialists in North America, Europe and Asia.Primary ResponsibilityThe writer must be a self-motivating and self-managing writer who can learn complex technologies quickly, and manage the entire process of writing top-quality documentation, soup-to-nuts. The writer will work closely with product teams consisting of programmers, QA engineers, support techs, project and product managers to define documentation requirements, gather technical content, produce drafts for review and release milestones, coordinate document translation with our localization office in Europe, and coordinate final release. The writer will be expected to seek improvements and contribute to improving team process and tools. You will author source XML files, and regular deliverables include PDF installation and user guides, online Help, release notes and publish technical content online, The role also includes and sustaining releases, quarterly BPS releases, Ops admin processes and tasks, and the migration of enterprise customers from on-premise environments to cloud, as well as help managed products migrate to McAfee ePO Cloud support.The writer will also split their time between various products such as ePO and MFS, participating in the Agile and Sustaining processes. Responsibilities would include:- Provide updated McAfee ePO and MFS Help and Product Guide content as assigned in Agile processes - Track and document Resolved Issues in monthly cloud releases- Perform peer reviews of managed product documentation- Perform UI text reviews of ePO and MFS to make sure text adheres to ISecG guidelines- Make global content changes in support of the Enterprise Help CenterExperience & Qualifications1. BS/MCA/BE degree and/or equivalent experience.2. 6-8 years of experience as a technical writer, preferably in the product software industry.Competencies/Skill sets required for the role: Must have1. Excellent writing skills. Topic-oriented, structured writing a plus.2. Excellent project- and time-management skills. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and develop and maintain own schedules.3. Ability to work either as lone writer on a product team of programmers, QA engineers, project managers or to collaborate closely with other writers as needed.4. Familiarity writing for a administrator audience.5. Ability to quickly learn new technologies, processes, and concepts.6. Tools: XMetal, DITA Open Toolkit7. Knowledge of XML, XSLT, CSS, Content Management System8. Working knowledge of SVN and VSSCompetencies/Skill sets required for the role good to have1. Experience working with translators and localization specialists planning and maintaining localization schedules.2. Knowledge of other publishing and office software such as FrameMaker, Visio, Photoshop or Paintshop Pro, MindMaps,3. Familiarity with Virtualization, Data Center, Internet, Cloud Security Threats, networking security technologies and concepts.4. Ability to innovate, seek process improvements, come up with brilliant solutions.
