Director of Business Development - Drone Team

Job Description

Overview of the group:

The Intel Drone team, a part of the New Technology group, has an exciting charter to build Intel's presence and business model for unmanned aerial systems UAS, better known as drones. . The team is chartered with launching new drone systems for commercial and lightshow applications and building ingredients to support the development of drones with Intel Inside.

Responsibilities and Deliverables:

Responsible for accelerating revenue growth and profitability by developing business relationships with key customers and potential customers to meet the drone team business goals and accomplish business unit strategic objectives.

Drive complex business transactions from deal conception and negotiations to contract closure with companies which positively and significantly impact the commercial drone business bottom line and/or competitive position.

Establish deal structures and business models comprehending intellectual property concerns, licensing scope, statements of work, go to market strategies, etc. as appropriate for the business.

Work with ICap colleagues to proactively utilize equity tools for M&A and provide business agreement support for venture investments.

Partner with SMG to cultivate customer relationships that lead to business opportunities and usages for commercial drone applications.

Contribute to business strategy development or other strategic projects as appropriate.

Engage daily with customers to deeply understand their problems and opportunities to address them. Prepare documentation needed for superior customer support: training, manuals, replacement lists, whitepapers, etc.


Proven applied knowledge in commercial drone application including data, analytics, and insights needed in such applications.
Strong Domain knowledge in 2-3 verticals in the commercial drone market.
Demonstrated technical expertise in drone operation and work flow to bring value to the commercial customer with data and analytics from drones
Proven success in closing deals and delivering value to customers that leads to longer term relationships.
Familiar with regulations for UAV flight - primarily in North America, and preferably EU, Australia, NZ, Japan SE Asia
Experience driving hardware, software and services revenue streams at increasing levels of influence.

Ideal applicant will have a technical background Bachelor of Science in Engineering and experience in sales minimum 5 years.
Independent self-starter who can also function effectively in teams.
Proven ability to understand and grow revenue in new markets.
Proven advanced account management skills and strong interest for the drone market
Strong written and oral communication skills are required, including the ability to effectively present in front of a large audience.
Excellent time management and organizational skills are needed in order to prioritize tasks in a very interrupt driven environment.
Good relationship building skills are necessary, including the ability to build a rapport and communicate effectively with all levels of Intel and the customers
Candidate needs to be able to integrate technical, business, market and environmental conditions into a compelling solution that meets the needs of Intel and the customer.
