State & Local Tax Senior Manager

Job Description
Overview: This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable US state income tax laws through timely and accurate completion and filing of required returns and payment of applicable taxes. The individual will manage a comprehensive calendar for all state & local tax events, ensuring accurate and timely filing of state income tax related items. The individual will also be expected to manage state taxing authority examinations inquiries. In addition, the candidate will support the state income tax provision requirements for the quarterly and annual financial statements.Responsibility detail: Manage/mentor tax compliance group and develop a strong team focused on the high quality tax compliance.Maintain the state tax calendars and assignments of responsibilities to the compliance team and ensure that all required due dates are met.Assist in preparation and conduct final review of consolidated, combined, unitary and separate filing state income tax returns identify and remediate any issues technical, factual, etc..Manage tax compliance in all areas of process improvement.Manage state taxing authority examinations and inquiries.Work with external advisors on compliance management extensive interface with other Tax Directors and groups within the Department.Maintain and refine the information gathering process to ensure that all data needs are met and with a maximum level of efficiency.Establish/foster relationships with Finance, tax personnel and other Tax Directors to enhance management of compliance process.Responsible for quarterly/annual state tax provision process


Qualifications

8+ years corporate tax compliance background with experience in tax accounting and tax compliance in Big 4 or large public corporation tax function position. Experience with tax compliance systems OneSource.Proven track record of working closely with various groups within a corporate structure including treasury, finance, accounting, operations, etc.Strong track record of problem solving, strategic/creative thinking and business communication skills.CPA and/or MBA preferred.
