Product Marketing Engineer

Job Description

The Product Marketing Engineer is a leadership role responsible for leading a cross-function team in creating the strategic direction,  and delivering the positioning of one of Altera’s primary device (hardware) product lines and associated supporting tools and solutions. The role requires the ability to develop and drive the definition and communication of product value and roadmaps to employees, analysts, press, sales, and customers.  The role requires close collaboration with engineering, operations, and product marketing teams.  The product is an FPGA and requires close interaction with teams providing supporting development tools, hardware boards, intellectual property cores, and processors.  The ability to summarize a large amount of information and provide clear messages with technical depth of understanding is critical.  An understanding of one or more of the wireless, wireline, automotive, industrial, military, consumer, and test and measurement markets is a plus.  A broad personal network in end markets and the semiconductor ecosystem as well as an ability to work with customers at the architect and CXO level is required. You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Working in a cross-functional team that includes sales, engineering, and marketing to define and execute go to market plans
  • Participating in product planning of next generation products
  • Developing and delivering go to market plans
  • Developing strategy, positioning, messaging, and collateral for sales teams and customer consumption


Minimum Qualifications
• BSEE or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience
• MBA or equivalent business experience preferred
• Ability to operate with limited direction from direct manager
• Technical knowledge of FPGAs preferred
• Outstanding presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Experience creating and delivering marketing content
• Excellent teamwork skills and ability to work across organizations
• Transceiver (SerDes), memory interfacing, ASIC, and/or FPGA experience preferred
