Workstudent - SW Developer for power management measurements

Job Description

A candidate for a temporary position who has not yet graduated and is working towards a relevant Bachelor's, Specialist's, Technical, Master's or PhD degree from a relevant academic institute. A Student employee can do specific work in the area of his future degree or work as a Generalist in a specific department. The Studentship is limited in time with the intent to hire into an College Graduate/ Technical Graduate position as appropriate.


We are looking for you as Working Student Software Development Windows (f/m). One of the most important features in the broad market of mobile phones is to have very good Power consumption values.The team is responsible for the architecture and development of the Power management system of the mobile phones. Here we need also a very good tooling to measure the current consumption in all use cases of a phone, like idle or voice and data calls. We have to take care that we reach always the best possible values and therefore need to have a strong connection to all the hardware and software teams which are part of the large development team. For this work we have to develop tools to measure the current consumption and do the optimization of the system to reach the best possible power consumption. To do this we have to measure on a high number of different power domains the power consumption, do the analysis and optimizationWe have started some time ago to develop a tool to execute the power measurement automatically. But now we need to improve this tool dramatically with a lot of new features like usage of a database, web based interfaces for cooperation with other international sites, new measurement algorithm and new reporting interfaces. Also we need a more automatic analysis approach to be faster in the analysis.

We need you to:
- Setup of the equipment and test places for the power measurements
- Execute the measurements manually
- Implementation of test cases and further development of the tool
- Documentation of the measurement results

- Student (f/m) pursuing an Bachelor or Master in informatics or related field
- Good experience in the programming languages C, C++, Windows and MSQL
- Good experience in Hardware
- English - good writing and speaking skills

To get a good understanding about the tasks, you will be part of an international team and you will learn how a mobile phone is working and how it's possible to save power.
