Senior Java Developer

Job Description

Help us shape the future of cognitive computing by becoming part of a small, agile team that engineers high quality Software services. As a software engineer on the team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining Data pipelines to ingest customer data into our cognitive computing solution. You will also create and maintain a scalable engine that runs JavaScript and other languages in a secure sandbox. This engine is an important part of our cognitive computing platform and will power both enterprise software and cloud-based SaaS offerings, enabling Intel, its customers, and its partners to create and manage smarter applications and devices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Design and implement a service that runs JavaScript, Python and other programming languages in a sandboxed environment on top of the JVM - Design, develop, test and deploy data pipelines using Open Source technologies like Stream Sets - Produce efficient, maintainable, reliable code and unit tests - Collaborate with other engineers, the Sales team and product management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related discipline with around 3 years of relevant industry experience OR Master of Science in Computer Science or a related discipline with around 1 year of relevant industry experience  Strong understanding of threading and concurrency
  • Strong understanding of distributed software systems
  • Experience with Java 8, including streams and lambdas
  • Experience with JavaScript on the web and the back-end
  • Experience with Vert.x or other asynchronous web application frameworks
  • Experience with at least one automated build framework (e.g. Gradle, Ant, Maven)
  • Experience with a distributed version control system (e.g. Git, Mercurial)
  • Competence with Bash or similar shell environment
  • Competence with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, Bash, Perl)
  • Willingness to work in an agile environment where unit testing and code quality are highly valued
  • Strong ability to be productive in ambiguous environments
  • Excellent technical communication skills to express complex ideas to diverse audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+Years of relevant industry experience.
