HPC Research Scientist -- Runtimes and Automatic Performance Tuning

Job Description
The P3 team (Power Pathfinding to Product) within the Enterprise and HPC Platform Group develops HW/SW co-designed performance and power management systems for x86 High Performance Computing platforms utilizing Intel Xeon and Xeon Phi processors and next-generation high performance interconnects. High Performance Computing is being used today to solve some of the world's most challenging scientific needs, including: fusion energy, bio medical, and physics research as well as traditional engineering such as aeronautic and automotive engineering. We are seeking an HPC Researcher. In this role, you will help research new features for an extensible open source HPC performance and power management runtime called GEO. Visit this page for more project information: You will have responsibility for: -Attaining a deep understanding of the code base within a short ramp period -Working with the team and the HPC research community to define and prove out new features for the product -Working with the team and other architecture teams at Intel to co-design software, firmware, and hardware power management layers


Minimum Qualifications: You must possess a Master of Science degree with a minimum of 5 years practical experience OR a PhD with 3 years of practical experience. Candidates must possess experience with: - research and experimentation - C++ programming - Linux system tools - automatic software tuning methods Additional Qualifications: Strong applicants will have some of the following qualifications: - 3+ years of prior work experience at a large company - experience with OpenMP programming model - experience with HPC applications and benchmarks - experience with workload characterization tools (such as GNU profiling tools and processor performance counters) - experience with open source software development practices This position involves work on a U.S. Government contract which may impose certain security requirements: - If you are a U.S. citizen, the government may require that you certify that you are a U.S. citizen. - If you are not a U.S. citizen, the government may require you to pass a security check before you can be approved to work on the project.
