Software Engineer - Virtual Reality

Job Description
Job Description: The Perceptual Computing Group of Intel Corporation is looking to fill the position of Virtual Reality Software Engineer to work on new vision-based sensing products for the consumer market. In this position, the candidate will drive the definition and execution of advanced technologies for Virtual Reality. The candidate will work closely with internal and external collaborators to develop and implement compelling new usages, algorithms, and prototypes on Intel-based computing platforms. ResponsibilitiesOwn application-level prototypes and demonstrations built in a custom C++11 engine.Champion visual fidelity and optimization across prototypes developed by a cross-disciplinary team.Implement and maintain systems including animation tools, asset pipelines, scene editing, gameplay scripting, and rendering.Build 3d geometry processing and analysis tools for real-time depth camera hardware.Interface with custom APIs for 3d scene reconstruction, hand detection and trackingDeep-dive into other engines including Unity or Unreal to support team-wide prototype execution*LI-USA-HZ1


QualificationsStrong software engineering competency in C++Broad experience with 3d mathematics for game development (linear algebra).Experience with one or more modern low-level graphics APIs (OpenGL 4, DirectX 11, Vulkan).Desire to work in a creatively flexible atmosphere with nascent algorithms and hardware prototypesBS or MS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or relatedNice to HaveFluency in SDKs and APIs for new devices (Leap Motion, Thalmic Myo, Oculus SDK / OpenVR, Kinect SDK, OpenNI, OpenCV, ROS, etc).Proficiency with custom or commercial game engines including Unity or Unreal.Have implemented features against physics APIs like PhysX or Bullet.An eye for design and interaction in the context of VR applicationsBesides technical expertise, the ability to work in a highly matrixed and collaborative environment is required. The person must have demonstrated strong drive to accomplish high-impact results, setting tough goals for himself/herself and executing to it, energetic and positive spirits taking pride in achievements, and straightforwardness in dealing with others in a direct and productive manner. Excellent communication skills are required.
