Job Description: The Real-Time Linux Senior Systems Engineer will be a key contributing member to Intel's efforts around Real-Time Linux and subsequent safety certification for segments such as autonomous cars, industrial automation, robotics, and drones. A successful candidate will be enthusiastic, self-motivated, and prone to action. They ask clarifying questions and seek first to understand, but will confidently challenge the status quo. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for: - Upstreaming, maintenance, and documentation of PREEMPT_RT Real-Time Linux project patches to the kernel mainline, including resolution of dependency issues blocking merge to mainline. - Development, maintenance, documentation, and upstreaming of Real-Time IA silicon features, including definition and creation of related system-level libraries. - Technical consultation to integration teams and verticals consuming the upstream PREEMPT_RT project, and related IA Silicon features. - Participate in, and provide a strong technical software and open-source voice to, Real-Time silicon feature planning and roadmap. - Provide a strong technical voice and positive representation of Intel to the Linux community.

Requirements - MS or 5-10 years industry experience - Strong written and verbal persuasive communication skills - Demonstrated mastery of the Linux kernel contribution process (upstream commits) - Real-Time experience (development, system configuration, scheduling policies, etc.) - PREEMPT_RT preferred. - Advanced git skills - Experience publishing papers and/or speaking on system engineering topics -Strong system level C programming experience - Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (preferably Python) - Strong computer architecture knowledge, preferably IA based - Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and tools such as R Nice to haves: Software architecture experience, esp. experience defining new APIs Mentoring skills Experience with system libraries (glibc or similar) Experience working with standards and participating in standards bodies (ACPI, UEFI, POSIX, C/C++, IEC, ISO, etc.)
