Construction Design Lead Engineer

Job Description
Responsible for delivering construction projects globally using multiple project delivery and execution strategies at a competitive advantage. Develops discipline scope and engineering solutions which include schedule, budget and safety requirements for assigned construction projects. Leads interdisciplinary coordination efforts, and collaborates closely with other disciplines to ensure delivery of a complete, approved, coordinated scope across a project. Interfaces and coordinates with Design, Construction and internal Intel organizations to enable facility design efforts for area of expertise. Responsibilities include providing input on design reviews, constructability, contractor performance and coordination with construction resources to manage discipline schedule and budget. Ensures accuracy of estimating tied to scope of work and linkage to project schedules. Manages the budget, forecasts trades resources, resolves resource conflicts, and coordinates trades mobilization. As required, engages in contract and legal negotiations, incident investigation, safety training, and project assessment.As Construction Project Engineer, the candidate will provides facilities engineering & operational leadership to the site organization in support to Safety, Reliability, Quality, Environmental and Cost objectives. Mech design Lead: Be responsible for the engineering and designing of Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) and mechanical process systems for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Responsible for the engineering and designing of mechanical systems for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Elec/I&C design Lead: Be responsible for the engineering and designing of electrical (HV/MV/LV) and facility instrument and control systems (PLC, BMS, FMCS) for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Responsible for the engineering and designing of elec/I&C systems for industrial facilities of varying complexity. CSA design Lead: Be responsible for the engineering and designing of new building civil, structure and architecture for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Responsible for the engineering and designing of CSA systems for industrial facilities of varying complexity. PSSS design Lead: Be responsible for the engineering and designing of process chemical supply, bulk chemical supply, special gas and bulk gas for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Responsible for the engineering and designing of PSSS systems for industrial facilities of varying complexity. UPW and industry waste water design Lead: Be responsible for the engineering and designing of ultra pure water and industry waste water for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Responsible for the engineering and designing of UPW and IWS systems for industrial facilities of varying complexity. Work includes taking various levels of responsibility for and participation in the development of project scope, budget and schedule. Engineer will provide technical direction to outside A&E firms throughout the project design phase, interface with site user groups, other engineering disciplines, local municipalities and/or utilities, trade contractors and other project stakeholders. Engineer will perform regular field inspections during construction and will monitor the project during construction to ensure that it is within agreed scope and that the work is being performed to Intel specifications and expectations. Leads application of structured problem solving techniques to solve operational, system, or project problems impacting the site. Able to develop alternative solutions in a timely manner. Drives standardization of solutions across Intel. Inputs to the planning/design phase, where to get them and how to use them. (POR Docs, Layout information, etc). Mentors others on the inputs. Proactively identifies patterns and trends and responds appropriately. Makes interventions in days, not in weeks if project is off track. Escalates issues and mentors team members on escalation Captures and learns from project to project and proliferates it within the Working Group (WG) and the team for the next effort as a content expert. partner with stakeholders to develop scope change impact mitigation plans and concisely articulates and integrates the change into the project schedule and project budget Scenario Planning Develops data driven cost reduction ideas, gets all WG member alignment and presents the ideas in Virtual Factory (VF) forums for proliferation. Manage scope and integrate cost, reuse, and VE requirements. Proactively identifies scope risks and mitigation strategies to remove them. Quickly able to identify scope misalignment and manage closures.


Qualifications

A. Bachelor degree in Engineering; Master's degree is a plus. A minimum of 8 years relevant design & construction experience in the job required area.B. Preferred Qualifications: i. Semiconductor industry background is preferred. ii. Expert knowledge of codes and standards in area of expertise iii. Expert knowledge of all construction related permitting process. vi. Recognized as a strategic team member who anticipates Program/Project problems and makes sound technical/financial decisions on complex assignments impacting Corporate Services Construction (CSC). vii. In-depth knowledge of several project/site programs (including facilities systems capacities, program objectives and current status)viii. Demonstrates ability to accept/embrace change and mentors others in the team on responding to change ix. Champions multiple cost reduction ideas to completion using functional knowledge in applying value engineering techniques.
