Intern – Firmware / BIOS Developer

Job Description
In the dawn of the Internet of Thing (IoT) era, you have thechance to make an impact to Intel's business by developing innovative platformboot loaders, enhancing FSP (Firmware Support Package), collaborating withcross product group firmware gurus to evolve UEFI design, delivering BIOSreference code for ecosystem enablement. With Intel FSP, you have theopportunity to design and develop architecture and code for various bootloaders in the market, including proprietary and open-source boot loaders. Youwill be responsible for authoring boot loader and/or BIOS specifications,creating chipset reference code and developing/supporting platform BIOS forIntel's CPUs and chipsets. You will also work closely with Intel silicon designteams and take care of software and BIOS related issues during the planning,development, and validation stages of the programs. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: - Defining, developing, documenting, testing software / firmware- Driving resolution of technical problems associated with thesoftware - Working and communicating with others in a close developmentgroup, educating colleagues and stakeholders about key learning's and generalknowledge sharing. - Working with management to accurately estimate and scheduledevelopment activities based on a thorough analysis of the technical hurdles - Interfacing with the architecture teams to turn requirements intofeatures


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to beinitially considered for this position. Experience listed below would beobtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/orrelevant previous job and/or internship experiences.Minimum Requirements:- Must be pursuing a MS degree in Electrical/ComputerEngineering with a specific interest in BIOS or firmware development and debug.Preferred Qualifications- Expertise in x86 Assembly, C and/or C++ programming in a Linuxenvironment (GCC, GDB/KDB, etc.) - A working knowledge of various scripting languages: Perl*,Python*, Bash Shell* and Make - Working knowledge (debug and development experience) ofstandard PC system architecture, Operating Systems and Driver internals isrequired - Ability to read hardware schematics to determine basiccomponent information, addressing, etc. - Experience in developing and understanding the intricacies oflarge scale software development. s
